School

I am now 100% that I will be out of the military by Dec. I am am going to get a lil more school.

The good, I should get my degree.

The bad, I gotta be a full time student and work a full time job, so starting in Jan. I may not be on near as much as I'd like.

Any tips for starting school over after the better part of a decade?

this is my last day off, before I have to go back into school; but mine's not gonna be nearly as stressful as yours, so.... take up yoga? Idk.... just something like that to relieve the stress on a weekday evening.

well, i have ben a life long studet/worker so i have a few tips...

1. get a USB stick, put it on one of those 'streatchback' things made for keys, and attach it to your backpack, that way you dont leave it behind, pluged into a cpu at skool or home.

2 get a good sturdy backpack, with lots of pockets for hidden snacks

3 store everything on your usb stick, most schools delete all 'non server' data on a daily basis, if you save anything on a skool cpu it will be gone the next day...i tried to hide file on my college server for years, the longest a file lasted was a week, b4 they found it and poof...


4 if you are getting an electronic degree (for example) and you did electronics in the Military, STUDY BEFORE YOU INTRO EXAM, i went to skool with a ton of exarmy, smart guys, but just at their craft, when they took a general intro exam, they ended up back in ELE101...so review your basics

5 look for a job with down time, i sold computers for a while, when there were no cutomers about, id slip my usb stick into the office cpu and get sum homework dun, on the clock....

6 sleep in your car, i recommed quiet audiobooks to listen to...

7 college has lots of free meals ,events and activities, have your wife meet you there with the kids for sum quick family time and free food!

ive got tons, but those are some basics that jumped to mind...any specific probs u r worried about?

a matter a fact...im at work typing this shit now, i LOVE jobs with downtime...

i should be back in skool right now...but CC debt..grr, put my 3rd degree on my ccs but b4 i graduated i ended up in jail, now i gotta pay bak b4 i start again,

in the meantime i visit calc websites, to try and tune up my math, i sneak in free training from our companys partners (when i can).

BUT i bet you will never guess which activity i picked to keep my writing/spelling/and typing up to speed?

Thanks Lookin. I think the hardest part for me is going to be just sitting still in a class. I will be working twards an electrical engineering degree. With the credits I got in the military I am about 1/3 of the way to my bachelors.

I think finding a decent job, with down time, that I can work while being a full time student will prove a challenge.

tell you wife not to worry...their are only a handful of EE frants, and trust me, they are not very wild guys...first ya gotta be 3.5 to get in FFS, Friday nights its triganometry trivia in the main hall...with free kool-aide

BUT i highly recommend joining...under 'other intrests' on your resume it is a great way to indirectly brag on your collegde GPA (you must have maitained a 3.5 or better)

and the NETWORKING? well nuff said....

the biggest problem....Fat 20 year old virgins that have never darak a beer in your study group...

im like "put down the candy bar fatty you are bouncing off the walls! and we are getting you a hooker this weekend"

last time i was in trouble in college, was for sneaking beer into the annual beach party...me and the head of the student senate, were getting blasted, I TOLD HIM, pour the beer in a cup, and DITCH the beer can, he got drunk and forgot, then we got searched, found my gun...uggg what a day...but in colorado, you can carry a gun on campus, just NOT while drunk...whoops...

that is why all the nuts shoot up our highskools, because all our college students are armed...

anyway thats my college advice for the day, pour your beer in a cup, so they dont know what you are drinking...

Situation No.1:-
State: Drunk
Season: Christmas
Location: Street
Time: 03:00
Description: Gnu has just decided he's had enough of the student nightclub on campus, and decides to walk all the way back to the halls of residence. He forgets that: a) he has left his girl at the club, b) the halls of residence is 3 miles away c) he has left his coat at the club. As he is cold, he decides to jog through a shortcut, which leads him past a driveway. The wind is quite blowy and he happens upon a christmas tree that has blown over. he decides at this point that it is a VERY good idea to steal the cristmas tree and take it back to halls (he has no idea why). He arrives back at his halls of residence only to discover that the 20ft christmas trees DOES NOT fit in his room. So he decides the best thing to do? Wel, duh, obviously drag it to the top of the halls building and jump off the balcony atop the christmas tree into the courtyard fountain below?! I mean, wouldnt you think of that? Gnu then goes to bed, soaked, and with no recollection of it in the morning. Goes to lectures the next day, only to return to the halls of residence, and the halls warden, and halls manager, and the upside down christmas tree....whoops.
