WTF EDUCATION TYPE PEOPLE?!?!?!

Well this sucks....


I get into school, and try to get onto the site, only to find that it is blocked.... I MEAN REALLY?!!?

There are millions of porn sites about, and they decide to ban the (for the most part) clean site which one person in the entire school goes on, which is only full of some crazed Americans....



I am NOT happy....


Luckily, the have yet to ban the original URL of the site, so I can (currently) access it.... We'll see how long it takes for the IT geeks to come out of hibernation to ban this too though....


But yeah....

hahaha it's probably an automated blocking program. any website you go to gets logged into the school's system and anything noneducational is blocked with enough visits.

Your school's network is probably using either a web filtering appliance, or a hosted service, to filter access to the "bad" websites. You'd be surprised at how often websites are mis-classified. Unfortunately, this isn't something you want to bring to their attention, as I'm sure you are not supposed to be using it (their network) for such activity.

Kemp - Do you know if Proxy websites are blocked as well? If not, you could try using a Proxy to mask your Internet traffic.


Not that I would know about such things, nor would I encourage anyone to bypass the security measures put in place on their network.

naw all the proxxy servers I know are banned, and I don't have anywhere near enough knowledge to do anything to get around it really...


but yeah, I'm told that "whenever a flesh colour is on screen, it's screen-cap'd, and sent to the head of IT" - now whether this is true, or (more likely) complete bullshit idk; but the fact of the matter is that there was a ban on it...

well, honestly it wouldnt suprise me that forumotion is banned, since it is a huge site, but with 1000's of blogs, i doubt anything useful for skool.

it's not like sites like this and FB, UtuB are bad, but they are bandwidth wasters, and likly distract lil minds from their studies...

i imagine that when skools went to internet access, there originaly wasnt much interest in social sites, and porn was the only enemy, but now...every single student has a computer, laptop, smartphone, thats a lot of bandwidth, so the enemy now is streaming video, FB pages with 200 pics, online chat like skype.

i mean dark could tell ya, how much bandwidth 600 students all logging on to utube at da same time would use,...i dont think skools can handle that capacity...

...still.... I'm not in school for another 2 and a bit weeks, so cé sera sera, eh?

If that gets blocked you can always make endless amounts of .tk links and what not.
